Out of concern for the safety of our community, the third annual Pathfinders Summer Institute is moving to a virtual experience in 2020. K-12 public school teachers who are interested in receiving high-quality computer science and maker professional development are encouraged to apply today. Applications are open now through May 15, 2020.
How does this change things?
The dates are staying the same, so if you plan on joining us block your calendars from July 19th – July 24th! We’ll kick-off with an Opening Ceremony on the evening of the 19th before diving into classes on the 20th. Each PD will have a dedicated virtual classroom with breakout options for small group work, chat rooms, and time set aside each day for office hours. While schedules may differ slightly from course-to-course, teachers should expect a full day of instruction, with stretch breaks, and interactive social programming in the evenings.
Because we are no longer factoring in travel, food and accommodations to the overall program fees, the cost the attend the Pathfinders Summer Institute has been significantly reduced.
- May 15, 2020: Application deadline
- May 18, 2020: Deadline to create a project on DonorsChoose (only for teachers fundraising through DonorsChoose)
- June 18, 2020: Deadline for all teachers to secure funding
- July 19, 2020: Pathfinders Summer Institute 2020 begins
While we won’t all be together in person for this year’s Pathfinders Summer Institute, we are planning for the week to be interactive, educational and fun! We have 19 different CS and maker education courses for teachers to choose from – please apply for one and join us for this virtual PD adventure!
