Sharing our abundance withthe underprivileged

Volunteers from Infosys China donated and distributed new clothes, school supplies, and toys to over 150 underprivileged grade one and two students of the Haining Friendship School in Zhejiang Province County, as part of the Giving Tree celebrations organized by the Community Center, Shanghai.

The lead of Giving Tree, Renee Hauff, started things off with a small ceremony. Later, Simon Li, an Infosys volunteer and representative of Spring - the Infosys China CSR organization that helped collect donations - inspired the audience by providing motivational and meaningful life lessons. And it didn’t stop there. Active audience participation was encouraged to get everyone to bond and partake in the joy. Our group of volunteers distributed goodie bags, and chatted, and played with the happy children. They also joined the children in an impromptu dance, which really got everyone tapping their feet.

From only 50 children in 2009, the number of beneficiary children has risen, over the past few years, to over 150. And with that number only expected to grow, the number of smiles is set to increase.
