World Environment Day Plastic To Funtastic

Plastic accounts for around 90% of all ocean trash, with 46,000 pieces of plastic found in every square mile of the ocean. In an effort to address this concern, the Infosys Sustainability team and the Eco Club of Bangalore Development Centre partnered with Freethinker - a creative team in Bangalore, on World Environment Day.

The team conceptualized an out-of-the-box program, and used fun to address a serious issue. The result, ‘Plastic to Funtastic’, a unique way to educate employees on how to minimize and eliminate single-use plastic from their daily life and point out the frightening consequences of inaction. Plastic to Funtastic was a carnival-themed event where visitors had fun with plastic. Volunteers set up and organized games, and artistic displays made of plastic, these highlighted ways to #BeatPlasticPollution – the 2018 theme for World Environment Day.

In keeping with the theme, visitors received eco-friendly cloth bags as prizes. The Infosys Sustainability team plans to continue this awareness program to encourage Infoscions to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.
