Among its many programs, Soften has also been distributing notebooks to underprivileged students since 2002. What began on a modest scale, has today grown significantly. Over 140 Infosys volunteers manage the donations and distribution of 100,000 student-notebooks for over 12,000 underprivileged children across 40 schools.
Students and teachers, year after year, express their gratitude to all those driving this initiative. Manasa, a volunteer responds,
“The one thing that I look forward to at the end of each distribution event is an increase in student enrolment. To me that’s an indication that our initiative has had a positive impact on stemming the number of school drop outs — who most often skip schooling out of sheer lack of basic resources and supplies — to enable kids to stay in school.”
